NCF Student
[Unity] Project
An NCSA/NCA Collaboration
The 2023-2024 school year has just begun and there are still major concerns that New College students will feel segregated and pitted against each other; that there will be a divide between athletes and returning students and first years. The students don’t want this to happen. The community doesn’t want this to happen. So, the New College Student Alliance and Novo Collegian Alliance are determined to make sure that this is not the case.
In collaboration with the Novo Collegian Alliance, the New College Student Alliance (NCSA) has organized a series of events with the aim of addressing the student body’s reasonable fears of the formation of a divided campus for the 2023-2024 school year.
We’re calling this series of events from the NCSA, which will span throughout the 2023-2024 school year,
the NCF Student [Unity] Project.
What is [Unity]?
These programs will be student-led and student-organized initiatives, working to address an array of the social needs and concerns of the student body.
There is a long history of student-led programming on college campuses, especially at New College of Florida, as a vital component of students’ social life and well-being on campus. It is a simple fact that students can connect with their fellow students in a way that administrators are unable to.
As distrust in administration reaches an all-time high at New College, we are honored to help the NCSA rise to the challenge and address students’ needs through community-focused programming.

After Hours Campus Tour
August 22, 2023
Student workers, including Orientation Leaders and Resident Advisors, led an evening-time tour of campus that allowed new and returning students to connect with familiar faces on a more casual level, hear personal stories about students’ experiences at New College, and learn unique New College trivia and lore pertaining to our small, but vibrant campus.
After the tour across the residential and academic campuses, students were treated to snacks and refreshments at Four Winds Café as the sun set behind them on a wonderful start to Orientation Week.
Pizza and PJ’s Mixer
August 24, 2023
After returning student move-in, NCSA hosted a meet-and-greet for new and returning students to interact with each other for the first time, break bread (with LOTS of pizza and soda), enjoy a New College Documentary, and end the night watching Scooby Doo 2 (as voted on by the audience).
Students were also encouraged to dress up in their favorite Pajamas and a take part in a “Best Pajamas Costume Contest” with a $100 cash prize for the 1st place winner, $50 for 2nd place, and $25 for 3rd place.
Glow in the Dark Paint Party
August 26, 2023
NCSA hosted the first Wall of the semester with a killer Glow-In-The-Dark Paint theme and received an amazing turnout from both new and returning students. All students were able to party and socialize together in The Center of The Universe, while new students got their first New College “Wall” experience.
There were live performances by local bands, Super Bitch and The Tilt, in Palm Court, along with a Rave Room set-up for DJ sets in the Old Mail Room, and a banner was laid out for painting in The Nook!
